Aim: Help Keep Hull's Library of Stuff Affordable For Everyone! Supporting Families Through Affordable Access to Essential Items

Our Mission

Library of Stuff exists to make essential items accessible to EVERYONE in Hull, regardless of their income. In times when families are choosing between heating and eating, we believe no one should have to spend hundreds of pounds on items they'll only use occasionally. We keep our borrowing fees intentionally low so that all families can access the equipment they need - from carpet cleaners for spring cleaning to tools for home repairs. We support Climate Action: By promoting healthy, thriving communities by preventing, preparing for and protecting against the impacts of climate change.

Why We Need Your Support Now

To keep our borrowing fees affordable for low-income families, we need help covering our basic operating costs as we transition to self funding model:

We need to raise £7,380 to cover rent, utilities and insurance.

By crowdfunding these core costs, we can:

  • Keep our borrowing fees extremely low for families who need it most.
  • Ensure everyone in our community can access quality equipment.
  • Continue providing an award wining service within Hull and the surrounding area.
  • Help families save money during the cost-of-living crisis

Our Impact So Far

  • Helped our community save £500,000 by borrowing instead of buying
  • Over 3500 families signed up to use the service, many from low-income households
  • Prevented nearly 200,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions
  • Built a library worth £40,000 of equipment available to all
  • Over 7,200 items lent to community members
  • Climate Action: Promoting healthy, thriving communities by preventing, preparing for and protecting against the impacts of climate change

Real Impact on Local Families

Instead of spending £200+ on a carpet cleaner, families can borrow one for a few pounds Rather than buying expensive DIY tools for one-off jobs, people can borrow what they need Parents can throw amazing parties for their children by borrowing party equipment at affordable rates!
