Aim

Keep Highgate Green by electing Lorna Jane Russell - our experienced Green candidate - as Siân Berry's replacement!

In 2006 Highgate made records and elected Camden's first Green Councillors. Highgate has always had Green Councillors since then, with Maya de Souza and Sian Berry serving for 17 years between them.

Excitingly Sian has been selected to stand as the Green candidate for Brighton Pavilion. We’re excited to see a new Green parliamentarian be returned, succeeding the wonderful Caroline Lucas. But first we have the task to keep our Green voice on Camden Council. Lorna Jane Russell, our candidate for Highgate, will do a brilliant job as the next Councillor for Highgate.

Greens make a real difference on Camden Council. Sian, Maya and Lorna have worked so hard to make Highgate a greener and fairer place. We’re proud to have:

Lorna is local and lives in the Holly Lodge Estate. She serves as the Treasurer of the Tenants’ Resident Association, helping residents with complex issues relating to housing repairs, heating failures, and the estate’s roof fire exits.

Lorna was a Camden Councillor for 8 years - first as a Labour Councillor for 7 years, before joining the Green Party in 2021. She also served one term as the borough’s Deputy Mayor

She joined the Green Party because she felt she would be able to be an independent voice for residents’ needs, free to speak up and free from the Labour whip telling her to vote a specific way.

Politics in Highgate is different to other places. Since 2010 it’s always been a very close race between Labour and the Green Party. Just 69 votes separated the Green Party’s Sian Berry and the next best placed Labour candidate. The Conservatives and Lib Dems were very far behind in third and fourth.

With your financial support we can pay for leaflets and reach voters with our winning message. We know voters in Highgate are ready to vote Green, they have before! They just need to hear from us, who Lorna is and why they should vote Green!

Our literature campaign will cost roughly £4,000. That will help ensure voters get a frequent communication from us, with our message of environmental and social justice. Donations big and small help our grassroots team win real change here in Camden.

Extra money will go towards things like campaign software, social media adverts and the cost of booking rooms through the campaign. Your generosity is so appreciated!

P.S. Because we're a political party

We're required to run electoral register checks from people making donations above £500, and if you donate over £1,500 during a year, we are required to let the Electoral Commission know, who will make this available on their website. All donations go to general campaigning funds.
