Aim
Help us raise £10,000 to install a new energy-efficient heating system and keep Byrne Avenue Baths warm for our community.
Who are we, and what is our project about?
Byrne Avenue Baths is a historic community sports and wellbeing facility in Birkenhead, providing affordable opportunities for local people to take part in sport, recreation and community activities.
Our sports hall is home to Wirral Trampoline Club and Birkenhead Comets Cheerleading, alongside a range of classes, community groups and events. Every week, hundreds of local people use the facility to stay active, develop new skills and improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
We are raising funds to install a new high-efficiency heating system within the sports hall. The project will create a warmer, more comfortable environment for participants while significantly improving the building's energy efficiency. The new system includes modern heating technology, intelligent controls and destratification fans that will reduce energy waste, improve heat distribution and lower carbon emissions.
As custodians of this important community asset, we are committed to ensuring the building remains sustainable, affordable and accessible for future generations. This project supports Climate Action by reducing energy consumption, improving efficiency and helping to secure the long-term future of a valued community facility.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We have already secured an incredible £20,000 grant from the Asda Foundation, but we still need to raise a further £10,000 to complete the installation of a new energy-efficient heating system.
The sports hall is used throughout the year by Wirral Trampoline Club, Birkenhead Comets Cheerleading, and community organisations. Reliable heating is essential to ensure participants can train safely and comfortably during the colder months.
The new heating system will reduce energy waste, lower running costs and help future-proof the building, allowing us to continue providing affordable opportunities for local people to take part in sport and community activities.
By supporting this project, you'll be helping to:
- Ensure our sports clubs, which provide a refuge for the children in our community, can stay open through the winter.
- Keep the sports hall warm and welcoming throughout the year.
- Support local children, young people and families who regularly use the facility.
- Reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
- Lower long-term operating costs.
- Protect a historic community building for future generations.
Every donation, no matter how small, will help us reach our goal and secure a more sustainable future for Byrne Avenue Baths and the community it serves.
How we’ll spend the money raised
The funds raised will contribute directly towards the installation of a new high-efficiency heating system within the sports hall at Byrne Avenue Baths.
Project Costs
- £19,500 – Supply and installation of two high-efficiency Winterwarm XR60+ heating units, intelligent controls and destratification fans.
- £4,500 – Electrical works, flue installation, planning and listed building requirements, access equipment and project contingency.
- £6,000 – Additional installation, commissioning and unforeseen project costs.
Total project cost: £30,000
Funding secured from Asda Foundation: £20,000
Crowdfunding target: £10,000
Any funds raised above the amount required to complete the heating project will be reinvested into further energy-efficiency improvements and essential maintenance works at Byrne Avenue Baths, helping us continue to provide a sustainable, affordable community facility for local residents and sports clubs.
How you can help
There are three simple ways to get involved and support our project:
1. Make a donation
Every donation, no matter the size, brings us closer to completing the installation of our new energy-efficient heating system. Your support will help keep our sports hall warm, welcoming and accessible for the many local people who use it every week, including members of Wirral Trampoline Club, Birkenhead Comets Cheerleading and other community groups.
2. Share our campaign
Not everyone can donate, but everyone can help. Please share our campaign with your friends, family, colleagues and social media networks. The more people who hear about our project, the greater our chances of reaching our goal and unlocking additional match funding.
3. Become a champion for Byrne Avenue Baths
Help us spread the word within your workplace, sports club, school or local community. If you know a local business that may be interested in supporting the project, we'd love to hear from them. Every conversation, recommendation and share helps bring us one step closer to success.
Together, we can protect a valued community asset, support local sport and wellbeing, and ensure Byrne Avenue Baths continues to serve the community for many years to come. ❤️
