Broken Spoke Bike Co-op
6th June 2018Stretch it! More information about the stretch target.
Thank you so much for your support, the pledging, the sharing, and all your amazing comments. It really is incredible. We're doing so amazingly well that we're able to stretch our initial target and aim for £16,000.
This means we can fundraise for some new tools and equipment that will help make the new community workshop even better. So we'll be able to expand the work we're doing even more to support more people to fix & ride!
Stretch target breakdown
Security grills: £250
Lights: £300
Parts washer: £1100
New till system: £800
Tools for 2 workstations: £ 773
Dream tools: £1845
Overall total: £ 5068
New reward: name the tool!
We'd like to involve you all in this journey into dream tool land and beyond. This will be your community workshop! We've added tools to the rewards, so you can "Buy the Spoke a...tool!".
And, you can name the tool: choose your own name, nominate another name, or give the tool a whole new identity of its own (Tooly McToolface, anyone?!)
Tell us your chosen name in the comments. If you want to name a specific tool, let us know and we'll do our best to make it happen!
More info:
- Security grills for the windows (parts & fitting)
To sure up the lovely old windows in our new premises and make sure stuff don't get nicked! (For the last 5 years we've been in a windowless vault...security previously sorted!) - Lights
We need to make sure the workshop is well-lit, so it's safe to use all year round. - Parts washer
This is an amazing bit of kit that removes all the black gunk to reveal the shininess beneath! And clean parts last longer, so this will reduce parts wastage. - New till system
We currently use an old-skool till that requires a lot of time to track workshop activity & sales. It's really important for us to do this so we can monitor the efficacy of our work and make sure we remain financially sustainable. With a new till system, we will be able to streamline our admin; enabling us to spend more time doing what we do best: teaching people to fix & ride! - Workstation tools
The new workshop is a more open space, so we're hoping to create 2 additional workstations allowing more people to fix their cycles. - Dream tools
The tools listed below are things we don't currently have, and if we did have them they would massively improve the quality of the workshop. As the Broken Spoke workshop is a community space, this would mean more people would be able to come and learn how to fix more stuff and access great tools!
