Aim
To help Katie Fitzgeralds continue to provide a safe space for comedy , music and fundraising.
A dispute with our neighbours around land that we have held and maintained for all of the 23 years we have been here has resulted in the loss of all of our trees, a valuable wildlife corridor and now part of our buildings. The associated loss of security and privacy and sense of place in what is our home has tested our mental, physical and financial reserves to breaking point and greatly affected our ability to move forward. This has been and continues to be an ongoing process since March and has taken all of our energy to keep everything running smoothly whilst dealing with the constant challenge. This finally reached a climax 10 days ago with threats to knock down our dressing room and other buildings unless we took them down to accommodate what was essentially a desire for about a foot wide strip of land. The last seven days have tested us beyond belief mentally and physically with me having to work from 6 in the morning, often until late at night, only pausing for events and other work. The only positive in all of this has been the fantastic support and help we have received from Michael Spencer, Frank Walker, our own Dove , my brother Andrew Morton, Steve Clarke, Lance Cartwright and Rikki Fox all of whom I thank from the bottom of my heart for answering the call. Sadly this challenge has caused us real financial problems at a time when we really wanted to move forward with promoting and concentrating on the second half of this year and at times, has made us mentally question our ability to carry on. However, we will find a way to right the ship and the support of friends and customers is invaluable. To that end we are launching an appeal to help pay towards some of the costs we have incurred and the ongoing cost of dealing with the problems created . It’s not something we do lightly, as our role has always been to support others and we have always prided ourselves upon our own resilience but its driven by the desire to continue to provide a safe space and a place that can generate support for others. This is a difficult ask at a difficult times for many, many people and we appreciate any support you can give to help us through this difficult time. You could donate some money to our crowd funder, buy a ticket for an event, buy drinks, T- shirts or albums or just express your support, it all helps and we appreciate every action.
