The Failed Foody 24 hour Bakeathon - 14th May
We did it
On 21st May 2021 we successfully raised £520 ( + est. £88.75 Gift Aid ) with 30 supporters in 35 days

I am fundraising for the new hub to help EATS keep growing, cooking and sharing food!

I love baking and due to some ongoing problems with my hip, I am sadly unable to volunteer my marathon running skills.

So instead of hiking or running or zumba-ing for donations, I am instead going to do a 24 hour Bakeathon from the comfort of my own kitchen on Friday 14th May, starting at 7am.

I will bake a variety of my favourite recipes and some as yet untested ones to keep it interesting.

I will rely on coffee and some podcasts or some bake related playlists to get me through the night.

All the products will then be shared to the wonderful local community hubs and pantries EATS has worked with (to be arranged), possibly with the help of a certain other EATS helper ;)

My home has been EHO approved for baking and I have an Advanced Food Hygiene certificate to reassure recipients.

All proceeds will go towards the refurbishment of EATS Rosyth's new Community Hub, a project close to my heart and being transformed for the benefit of the town that I live in. The new hub is going to be such a fantastic base and resource for all sorts of fun food activities to take place and for people to make friends, volunteer and learn valuable skills. It will be a supportive and inspiring place and one where people can learn more about the food we grow nearby in the Community Garden and Orchard, and about the wider food system and how everyone can help make it better, including playing a vital role in tackling the climate emergency.

I may regret this idea but as I previously worked as a Sensory Scientist, I may have to sample a few cakes along the way just to keep the sugar levels up and provide ultimate quality control which is something of a perk.

Some disasters are very likely and will no doubt be captured on the occasional Facebook live for your entertainment.
