For those wishing to donate to our chosen charities in memory of my dear mum, Joyce Cusick. Who sadly passed away on the 9th July 2021
My beautiful, strong mum, Joyce, passed away on the 9th July 2021 after a very short battle with ovarian cancer. Mum's funeral will be held on 27th July at Chadwell Heath Cemetery at 11.30am There are three charities we would like to raise money for in memory of mum.
St Francis Hospice - Mum spent her final days being cared for by the amazing nurses at St Francis Hospice in Havering-atte-Bower, Romford. The hospice relies on public donations to continue and the palliative care they give to patients is invaluable. Before mum was offered a bed she was in constant pain and discomfort and this was distressing for her and us as family. They also supported us as a family and welcomed myself and my Dad to stay with mum when she was put on end of life. Offering us endless cups of tea and coffee, biscuits and hot meals as well as reorganising the room to allow Dad to have a proper bed after he'd slept in a reclining chair for 6 nights.
Alzheimer's Society - Mum had suffered from Alzheimer's since 2014, I had contacted them on a few occasions for advice on dementia and when mum had to go to hospital and the hospice, I used the Alzheimer's society 'This is me' forms so nurses could get to know mum. Making sure all medical staff know a person has dementia is vital and the Alzheimer's Society provide wrist bands and stickers to identify those patients.
Target Ovarian Cancer - The UK's leading ovarian cancer charity, work to improve early diagnosis, fund life-saving research and provide much-needed support to women with ovarian cancer.
I shall leave this page open for a month after the funeral. I will then share the money raised to these three charities. Thank you to everyone for their love and support. xxx
