Aiming to raise £100,000 for Surgery & treatment abroad for Jonathan’s brain tumour with a prognosis of 6-12 Weeks. NHS denied surgery.
Many of you will know Jonathan my father as a friend or from the various clubs, societies or organisations he is a very active member of. On the 3rd June he was diagnosed with a highly aggressive Glioblastoma brain tumour, the prognosis for which left untreated is 6-12 weeks. There is no cure for Glioblastoma but standard of care treatment in the UK is a surgical removal of the tumour, followed by chemotherapy and radiation. After a delayed diagnosis by the NHS they subsequently, due to Jonathan’s age of 82 refused surgery and standard treatment. NHS doctors also refused private referral while we were waiting. Dad also has private health insurance to which he has paid premiums over 40 years and this company have also refused to fund as we can’t get the treatment in the UK. In his life my father also donated over 100 donations of blood to the U.K. health service used in surgeries such as these. He has no comorbidities at 82. We found two international centres very prepared to treat Jonathan. Jonathan has had a successful surgery abroad from which he nowrecovering. He must now undergo the required rounds of chemotherapy and radiation. There are also Oncology Virus treatments available abroad that are unavailable in the U.K. These treatments can further halt the growth of the tumour. We have self funded this to date which clearly had not been something we had anticipated happening particularly with relevant private insurance. If you know, Jonathan please leave us a message. We appreciate times are very tough financially and we fully understand any inability to help but if you would like to leave a donation however great or small it will be finely received. Thank you so much Susan & Jonathan.
