Our aim is to help raise a bit of money to help Huntington Rovers longest serving player.
On the 30th of January Huntington Rovers Veterans made the short journey to take on Wiggington Grasshoppers Veterans. It was a much anticipated fixture that was cut short after only 10 minutes following a clash of heads between Huntington’s Jon James and a Wiggington defender. The incident was a complete accident, however as some of you may well already know, it resulted in Jon requiring medical care on the pitch, including 2 air ambulances.
Jon underwent successful surgery in the days following the collision which was amazing news for all to hear. While Jon is very lucky the operation was a success, this sadly is only the start of a long road to recovery for him.
Jon is currently unable to work due to his injuries, which include blurred vision from bone fragments going into his eye muscles and with no idea when he might be able to work again, Huntington and Wiggington have decided to do our own little bit to help him in anyway possible.
Both sets of players and friends of Jon are going to be running from York Minster to Wiggington squash club on the 6th March, at 12:30 followed by a few drinks. While the distance may not be the furthest for some there’s a few old legs within the teams that would love and need your support by donating any amount possible to this cause.
