The Morrison family have owned the Cock and Bull country inn for 24 years and in that time we have weathered our share of storms. The 2008 recession hit us hard as did the oil crash and the closure of our road in 2018, nothing however has been as tough as having to close up completely and send our 25 staff home and that is why we are turning to our amazing Cock and Bull supporters for help.
We are one of the few hospitality businesses not eligible for a government grant due to the fact we are in a higher business rates bracket than other restaurants and although we have plans in place to cover the wages of our employees (our biggest priority), we also know that there are going to be uncertain times ahead. It looks likely that we are headed for a Summer shut-down leaving us with no income to cover overheads and to prepare for the leaner times in Winter. We are however determined to be in this for the long haul and not let a virus end the history of this 200 year old Inn - we are committed to finding ways to continue trading in the future.
We have been truly humbled by the huge support shown to us so far but we are also acutely aware of the economical pressures on so many during these difficult times. What we are offering is a reward scheme whereby any contribution now will be paid forward when we re-open, with added interest.
For any contribution made through the purchase of a voucher, we will also etch your name on our ‘Wall of Gratitude’, to be hung in the Cock and Bull. This is to honour all those who have helped us through our most difficult times - preserving our history, and our future.
Our Rewards
For every £1 pledged now, we will add 25% to the value in the form of a voucher, to be used when we reopen.
These vouchers will be valid for one year from our re-opening date and can be spent in the restaurant or bed and breakfast.
Anyone who pledges will be inscribed into our wall of gratitude, to be forever remembered in history as helping to save this inn and preserve its future.
All those who pledge will also be added to a grand prize draw to win a stay with us for dinner, bed and breakfast for 2
The Small print
- The name you enter is what will be printed on the voucher. If it is a gift you need to enter the name of that person, not you.
- Ensure the home address that the voucher should be sent to is also correct.
- Please double check the e-mail address you enter as that is the only way we can contact you.
- If there is any space to add a phone number, please do that so we have a second way to contact you.
Timeframe
- We plan to open the deal for 2 weeks, but we may cut that short if we hit targets early.
- Once we close the crowdfunder, we will work as fast as possible to collate names and get the vouchers mailed out ready to use when we re-open.
We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
