The current energy crisis is hitting us very hard. Our energy bill is due to at least treble from May. Like all theatres, we are heavily reliant on electricity to keep the lights on and our old building needs constant heating to preserve the building and keep it comfortable for our community.
We have excellent solar panels thanks to the Marks and Spencer Energy Fund Award, but most of our energy is used in the evening when the panels are not generating electricity. On the new rates, we would have no choice but to close our doors.
We are now seeking to raise £30,000 to buy 6 solar batteries to reduce our bill as much as possible, potentially making our theatre self-sufficient and increasing the sustainability of the theatre for generations to come.
Any additional funds raised will help us to modernise our heating and lighting to further reduce our energy bills.
