JG Ballard House Museum
Not quite
Unfortunately this project was not successful.

The idea behind the project is to purchase JG Ballard's former home in Shepperton and turn it into a museum.

by James Evison in Shepperton, England, United Kingdom

JG Ballard is the greatest British writer of the post-war period. The landscape of late twentieth century English literature owes much to his dystopian and alarming visions of suburbia, and he directly influenced writers such as Martin Amis, Iain Sinclair and Will Self amongst main others. Most recently, one of his novels has been turned into a Ben Wheatley film starring Tom Hiddleston - High Rise - and other world-famous novels and film adapatations include Crash (a David Cronenberg film) and Empire of the Sun (a Steven Spielberg film).

His home in Shepperton is up for sale again having recently been on the market a few years ago. This project aims to create the JG Ballard Home Trust - making a registered charity - and purchase the property, turning it into a museum. As a donor, you will become a member of this trust, and own a part of 20th century literary history.

I am passionate about the novels of JG Ballard, and will run the museum, returning the rooms to their state during Ballard's ownership of the property. Additionally, walking tours from the house to various destinations around Shepperton and the surrounding area, referenced by Ballard in his works and autobiographies, will take place daily. A weekly bus tour of other destinations within the M25 will also take place.

The ultimate Xmas present for the literary person. Help me to realise this dream.

James Evison.
