Aim: I would like record works published by Jeanne Roger- a female publisher in the 18th Century, highlighting the hidden women in music history.
The roles women played in musical history have been hidden over time and I would like focus my recording on celebrating the work of female publisher Jeanne Roger- it was more common that people think for women to continue the publishing houses after men died, but it was often continued in the male name. Estienne Roger, Jeanne's father put his music publishing business in his youngest daughters name and she published between 1716-22.
The recording will feature sonatas by Schickhardt, Klein, Passionei , Sieber and Galliard - all lesser known composers and pieces. The Sonatas by Schickhardt and Passionei will be world premiers- bringing lesser known works to more people. I am passionate about diversifying the classical canon.
The musicians on this recording are:
Heidi Fardell - Recorder
Poppy Walshaw - Baroque Cello
Carina Drury - Baroque Cello
Robin Bigwood - Harpsichord
Lynda Sayce - Lutes and Baroque Guitar
Adrian Hunter - Recording engineer and producer
