JCADA is rapidly outgrowing its current studio. We would love create a performing arts centre for our dancers to grow & achieve their dreams

We're still collecting donations

On the 15th October 2020 we'd raised £6,030 with 186 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

The global COVID-19 pandemic has impacted on the performing arts industry across the country. throughout this period Josie has worked tirelessly to keep all the JCADA dancers engaged, motivated and in high spirits.

As we now return to teaching in studio it has become even more apparent that we require more space to achieve our full potential as a performing arts academy. Our classes are at full capacity with waiting lists, many classes are duplicated due to not having the space to teach all dancers at the same level at the same time. As students reach higher levels of their Acrobatic training they require a larger area for tumbling skills. The waiting and communal areas in our current hired premises are also very limited.

We are seeking a premises with a large training area for dance and acrobatics, ideally with additional rooms for music lessons/singing tuition. A cafe area would be most welcome for serving ethically sourced healthy snacks and meals.

JCADA has strong historic links, Josie’s family have taught in Boston for almost 100 years since her great great aunt Winifred Greswell opened the Boston School of Dance in the 1930s.

The academy has a large, diverse client base with over 200 dancers enrolled aged from three to seventy plus, from all different nationalities and backgrounds.  JCADA is well known for having a family environment. Classes are priced to ensure they are accessible to all.

Subjects taught include ballet, tap, modern, freestyle, flexibility, acrobatic dance and belly dancing. Josie takes pride in her fun and professional approach to teaching. She is qualified with the BATD, IDTA, ADTA, Acrobatic Arts and Alixa Flexibility. She is also paediatric Level 3 first aid trained and has an enhanced DBS disclosure.

JCADA running a performing arts centre would allow more members to join and boost the mental and physical health of the people of Boston. It would provide a friendly and safe place to  support the integration of all nationalities (of all ages). The centre would potentially bring job opportunities.  The increase in members would bring more people to Boston and the footfall for the town centre.  Quite simply it would be a positive asset to the town, nurturing and celebrating the performing arts for Bostonians from all backgrounds.

Here is a testimonial from one of our dancers:

Dance has always been a fun way for me to keep active but JCADA provides so much more than physical well-being. It’s an escape from the stresses of assignments and schoolwork, where everything can be put to the side even for just a couple of hours a week. JCADA is a place built with positivity at its core, in a world where it is all too common to compare people to one another in order to bring someone down. You would never hear that “your leg is not as high as theirs” or “they can do the splits and you can’t”, instead you are congratulated on your own achievements and progress. Josie and her team inspire you to achieve your own best, not anyone else’s, which has made me more confident in myself. They genuinely care about every pupil in the school and I know if I’m having a bad day, I could go to the studio and not be called out if I’m not performing perfectly, but instead be supported by Josie and my peers. It means a lot to belong to a studio which doesn’t compromise their student’s mental health in order to reach for perfection; the students always come first. To me JCADA is more than a studio, it’s a second family.
