Aim

I am growing my floral design venture, I want to provide a dual vendor service by combining photography and floral design for your events.

Who is Jade Tyler?

Well my name is Caoimhe, 29, from Derry City. Jade and Tyler are my two children, Tyler is 8 and Jade is 2. I have named my business after them.

I am quite a creative thinker with a mind for business. I thrive off a challenge and love being involved in something from the early stages and seeing it through to the end. As a single mother of two, trying to build a business I would say I work well under pressure!

How this began.

I began working as a photographer a few years ago, (lifestyle and weddings) and absolutely love it. I started making floral pieces as props for myself and my clients. I made some for other photographers and realised it could be a whole other business and a second income stream. It has quickly transitioned into weddings and events, my customer base now consists mostly of brides to be looking for headpieces and room décor, and wedding guests wanting flower halos and crowns.

The idea.

My end goal, and ultimately my USP, is to provide a service which reduces the number of vendors and invoices a person has to deal with in the planning of an event such as a wedding. The floral design including bouquets, room décor and head pieces can be included in the one package along with their wedding photography. This will not be compulsory, it will be an option as both can be offered separately, giving the client more choice. One package, one vendor, multiple items ticked off the list.

The environment.

Every small business owner should be conscious of their carbon footprint. As a way of reducing or contribution to landfill, bigger items of Jade Tyler floral designs are hired out, so that they can be modified and reused again and again. Smaller items which can be purchased are packaged in 100% recyclable and biodegradable material. Bridal bouquets will be fresh or dried flowers.

The team.

At the minute it is just me, wearing all the hats. I have plans to hire someone down the line to help with admin, and assist in the digital marketing side of the business, while I remain in the design and creation side.

The crowdfund.

As Ulster Bank have launched their Back her Business initiative, I am hoping the successful crowdfunded project will be provided top up funding by Ulster Bank to achieve the goals set out for Jade Tyler. The money will be used for bulk buying of supplies and marketing, which in turn will help reach the end goal of offering a duel vendor service. I will then be in a position of opening a premises to create and store small and large items as well as a place for client consultations regarding the dual vendor option for their event.
