Raising funds for the de la Warr Pavilion's refurbishment while celebrating my son, Jackson Peacock, who visited throughout his life...

On July 20 2023, the day after his Graduation in Cardiff, my eldest son Jackson, his brother Rider and I visited the de la Warr Pavilion, in Bexhill-on-Sea to see Grandmaster Flash; that’s J (wearing 13) on the left, R on the right...

It was a fun evening, comfortably bridging the generational chasm between my sons and their (then) 59 year-old mum. However, on September 20 — two months later, to the day — Jackson died in an accident.

Exactly 53 weeks after seeing Grandmaster Flash, Rider and I returned to the de la Warr Pavilion on 27.7.24 for a music festival I'd created (with the help of the fantastic team at dlwp.com, of course)—raising funds for charities working with parents and siblings after the loss of children, of any age. 'JackoFest' was the most extraordinary and magical day, suffused with love and music.

We couldn’t have done any of it without the help of all those incredibly generous donors whose Crowdfunding raised 10k—not to mention all the artists and DJs who gave their time and talent for nothing... a million thank yous!

Now, as we approach the third anniversary of Jackson’s death, the Pavilion has embarked on a huge multi-million-pound refurbishment project: ‘An Icon For Everyone’. This will ensure the Grade 1 Listed south coast Modernist masterpiece retains its status—while laying foundations for its future at the heart of the community, and beyond.

And so we wondered if there was any way to honour both the de la Warr Pavilion and Jackson’s memory…

And there is!

The De La Warr’s ‘Your Seat In History’ initiative means we can celebrate both Jackson’s love of music and the venue he’d visited regularly throughout his childhood—while also raising much-needed funds.

Reaching our £500 target allows us to dedicate a seat to Jackson, with a plaque:

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JACKSON PEACOCK, 2002-2023. HE IS ‘STARDUST, GOLDEN’

Reaching £1000 means we can add another:

CROWDFUNDED IN LOVING MEMORY OF JACKSON PEACOCK, 2002-2023

And of course if we went beyond £1000… well, we’d probably start aiming for a whole Jacko-themed row of seats (And throw another party, too!)

If you’d like to be involved, we'd love that—and trust us no donation is too small (or too big!). So, let's see what we can raise in the next couple of weeks—which will take us past the third anniversary of losing Jackson, on 20.9.2026...

THANK YOU SO MUCH from Jackson’s family, friends and everybody at the de la Warr—who remain forever #TeamJackoFest

Love, Kate x
