Nathy SG has decided to turn 40

Aim

Instead of birthday gifts I'd like to raise money for INQUEST who support people bereaved by state-related deaths.

Hello, I'm Nathy SG, a musician/university worker from North East, England. 

Against all my better judgement, I've decided to turn 40 this November. 

I'm lucky that I don't want or need anything at all really, so instead of getting me a present, please donate to INQUEST. I'd like to raise at least £400 -a tenner for every year I've been alive- but more than that would be really amazing. 

INQUEST is an independent charity that supports families bereaved by deaths in state custody/care. That includes those who have died in prison, police custody, immigrant detention, mental health facilities etc. They also support people impacted by other sorts of state-related deaths, including those bereaved by the Hillsborough stadium disaster and the Grenfell Tower fire.

Every year, around 700 families bereaved by deaths in police custody, prison and mental health settings contact INQUEST for support. INQUEST is entirely reliant on grants and donations to continue its work, and is completely independent of the government.  One of INQUEST's ultimate goals is ending all deaths caused by unsafe systems of detention and care, use of force, and/or institutional failure. Through supporting those impacted in such cases, they are helping people so often excluded from exercising their legal rights, and whose pleas for justice invariably otherwise go unheard/ignored. The work INQUEST does providing support to bereaved families means the absolute world to me, and I am so glad they exist, which is why I also donate to them monthly (and would encourage you to consider doing the same, if you can afford it).

I've never run a marathon or bungee jumped for donations, nor have I ever turned 40 before, but I have hassled people to buy a lot of gig tickets over the years, so idk how I'm doing in terms of karma, but irrespective, please do donate. Cheers. Nathy SG xxx
