Aim

Student short film: rom-com following Junie as she navigates her dating life. Is the man of Junie's dreams all she's ever wanted?

Logline

A young hopeless romantic named Junie navigates the dating world through a sea of disappointing men, until she meets her dream man Noah. She soon realises that the dream relationship she’s been chasing might not actually be what she wants.

Synopsis

Hopeless romantic Junie, goes on a set of speed dates in hopes of finding her dream man. The men she meets leave her feeling uninspired and hopeless. Junie’s day gets even worse when her bike gets stolen, until she meets the man of her dreams who offers to help her find it. She takes him up on his offer and the pair spend a surprisingly romantic afternoon together talking about their hopes, dreams, and everything in between. After realising things are moving fast, Junie becomes worried. She shares her concerns with Noah, that she’s not sure that she wants a relationship after all. Noah reassures her that he isn’t expecting anything, and that there’s no rush to have things figured out. The two are just about the give up on the search, until Junie spots her bike with the theif. She charges at him in anger, and Noah ends up paying him off to get the bike back. The pair ride off into the sunset together.

The look

We're hoping to have a soft look to bring comfort whilst still leaving space for the comedy to reveal itself in the best ways. Whilst the story is performance heavy we hope that the cinematography will match it perfectly to add that extra sprinkle of romance and comedy.

We are now in our final year of studying film production at University of Portsmouth and we hope to share our passion of film making trough our final project together with our diverse crew and we are already working hard to achieve our goal of making this film the best it can be.

Intention

We want to make a film that shows it’s okay not to know what you're doing in your 20’s, especially in your love life. Whilst creating a rom-com that is fun and comforting, that people will want to go back and watch, we’re also breaking the stereotype that the female character always has to be the butt of the joke.

How will the money be spent?

The money we raise will be well spent towards the production of the film. Since the film is very performance based we wish to invest in good actors and locations, as well as taking good care of our whole crew with good catering on set and make sure that travel is hassle free. We also want to spend a bit on production design including the costume design and the bicycles, as well as the design of Junies bedroom and the speed dating venue. The rest of the money will go to paying our music composer and putting the film into film festivals.
