IT'S NO THING became SOMETHING!!
(Notre film 'Ce n'est rien' est devenu quelque chose!!)
Thanks to your generous contributions we shot the film in May and now we're starting the next important phase of 'Post Production'.
It is still possible to support the project and help us raise the funds for our post production:
- Editing, sound mixing, design, colour grading, music. Festivals submissions, marketing etc..

BEHIND THE SCENES/ PHOTOS DE TOURNAGE
The Synopsis: Four Jane Does of different ages go down memory lane and testify on a traumatic event that changed their life. Some remember it clearly, others only have blurry memories, but all come to the conclusion that "It's No Thing."
All "Jane Does" are the same. When their unidentified body is found we give it a name: Jane Doe. If they survive and recount their story, they are very often dismissed, belittled and silenced with the comment: "It's nothing!"
Le résumé: Quatre Jane Does de différents âges remontent le fil de la mémoire et se confient sur un événement traumatique qui a changé leur vie. Certaines s’en souviennent clairement, d’autres n’ont que des souvenirs flous, mais toutes arrivent à la conclusion que "ce n’est rien!".
Toutes les “Janes”se ressemblent. Lorsque l'on retrouve le corps non-identifié d'une femme, on lui donne un nom: Jane Doe. Si les victimes survivent et racontent leur histoire, elles sont très souvent discréditées, rabaissées et réduites au silence avec le commentaire : « ce n’est rien! ».
Creative vision: It's No Thing was born after I watched 'Promising Young Woman' by Emerald Fennell. Without spoiling it, at the end of the film I felt a strange sort of revolt. I wanted to write about what IS really happening but without showing it. The Janes of the film can represent the same woman 'Plain Jane' she's nice, she never makes waves and could sometimes be part of the furniture. These women also refer to the many 'Jane Does', unidentified victims to whom we give the same generic name. Here, I ventured into giving each one of them a specific attribute as their last name: Innocence, Courage, Power and Memory.
Maybe they are the same woman experiencing different periods of time, circumstances or walks of life, or all the Janes are different individuals bound by the same trauma. Each of them lost something: their innocence, their courage, their power and even their memory. The narrative choice of not explicitly showing the trauma or physical violence is essential in allowing the audience to engage. The elephant is in the room, we all understand and even know deeply in our flesh what really happened but hearing all the Janes say: 'It's nothing!' must awake a strong sense of 'injustice' and invite us to act.
Vision créative en français: le film It's No Thing, est né après avoir vu Promising Young Woman d'Emerald Fennell. Sans spoiler, à la fin du film j'ai ressenti une étrange sorte de révolte. Je voulais écrire sur ce qui se passe réellement mais sans le montrer.
Les Janes du film peuvent représenter la même femme 'Plain Jane', elle est gentille, elle ne fait jamais de vagues et peut parfois faire partie du mobilier. Ces femmes font aussi référence aux nombreuses 'Jane Does', victimes non-identifiées, à qui on donne le nom générique 'Jane Doe'. Ici, je me suis aventurée à donner à chacune d'elles un attribut spécifique comme nom de famille : Innocence, Courage, Pouvoir et Mémoire.
Peut-être s’agit-il de la même femme qui vit des époques, des circonstances ou des parcours de vie différents, ou bien toutes les Jane sont des femmes différentes liées par le même traumatisme. Chacune d’elles a perdu quelque chose : son innocence, son courage, son pouvoir, voire sa mémoire. Le choix narratif de ne pas montrer explicitement le traumatisme ou la violence physique est essentiel pour permettre au public de s’impliquer. Nous sentons qu'il y a un problème, même si nous ne voyons pas ce qui s’est réellement passé. Nous le savons au plus profond de nous-mêmes, mais entendre toutes les Jane dire « Ce n’est rien ! » doit éveiller un fort sentiment d’« injustice » et nous inciter à agir.
