Last updated 17/10/23:
Since Saturday 7th October, more than 4,000 people have reportedly been killed in Israel and Gaza, with thousands more injured due to the escalating conflict.
The UN says more than 1 million people have been displaced from their homes in the Gaza Strip and between 100 and 150 people have been taken as hostages from southern Israel.
Staff and volunteers from Magen David Adom (MDA), Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were already on the ground when the violence broke out and have been leading the response to the emergency.
They have been supporting people by providing urgent medical aid, ambulance support and first aid. The ICRC are ready to provide further humanitarian assistance as required on both sides.
How to help people in Israel and Gaza
The situation in Israel and Gaza is desperate. We expect humanitarian needs to increase, and people will need much more support in the weeks and months to come. If you are in the UK, the best and quickest way to help support those affected is to donate to our appeal. Donations made to the appeal will go towards helping people in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank affected by the conflict.
People in Israel and Gaza are in desperate need of our help. Please donate today if you can.
Please note:
The Israel and Occupied Palestinian Territory Appeal will support people in areas currently affected and those potentially affected in the future by the crisis. In the unlikely event that we raise more money than can be reasonably and efficiently spent, any surplus funds will be used to help us prepare for and respond to other humanitarian disasters anywhere in the world.
