Ironwoman Triathlon Challenge

Aim
15 inspirational women in sport are going to be completing 5 ironman triathlons in 5 days to raise money for Period Poverty Edinburgh
Myself, and Dionne are the first ever Women in Sport officers on the new Inclusion Committee at the University of Edinburgh. In this role we are given free reign to carry out campaigns, charity events etc to encourage and represent women of all walks of life in sport. Since assuming this role in August we have been wanting to start the year with something big. A challenge that would allow us to raise money, and also empower a group of women.
We have decided to gather a group of 15 inspirational female athletes from the entire spectrum of sport at Edinburgh to complete five ironman triathlons in five days. From Netball to Kickboxing, and Rowing to Hill-Walking, the women we have could not come from more different sports. However we have brought them all together in the common cause of helping to eradicate period poverty in Edinburgh.
All of the money that we raise through this event will be donated to Period Poverty Edinburgh who work tirelessly to provide sanitary products to those most in need. Their work has become even more important during the pandemic, as so many live on the brink and are not able to pay for such a necessity. They are a student-led group, much like us, and are so inspiring with the work that they have done over the last few years. We hope to raise as much money as possible in order to help them with their work!
This is going to be a huge physical and mental challenge for our athletes, but an inspiring and empowering period too!
