Help the Irish Pensioners Choir make a new album & help them keep alive the songs of a great generation of older Irish emigrants to London.
Profits raised from album sales will be given to Red Cross, who are working to support older people in Ukraine. We are doing this as an act of solidarity and support from Irish elders to Ukrainian elders.
The Irish Pensioners Choir is a group of older Irish emigrants in London who come together to sing, perform, have good times and great adventures. The choir aims to keep alive the songs, culture and traditions of the older Irish generations, and bring the great energy, friendship and music of the choir to stages large and small.
The choir recently sang on the Main Stage in Trafalgar Square for the Mayor of London's St Patrick's Day celebrations for London - their first performance since Covid first struck and forced this wonderful group of older people to spend much of the last 2 years shut away in their homes. Since the start of the pandemic, the group has lost dear members and friends to Covid and every one of them is missed and always remembered. This has been a tough two years.
The choir has, over the last 20 years, sung everywhere and anywhere: The Royal Albert Hall, care homes and lunch clubs, television game shows and even busking on the London Underground.
The choir brings joy to everyone who sees and hears them and they are now planning on recording an album of songs which they hope to share later this year. They will be working with a professional Irish record producer and the plan is to record the album in a way that does justice to the history and importance of the great - (you could even say the iconic!) - Irish Pensioners Choir.
To do this, the choir needs your help! The choir is trying to raise £10,000 to record and release their album. Any help you can give, large or small, would be greatly appreciate by all.
Thank you!
