'I Remember' is a new, cross-art form production merging spoken word, beat poetry and live, loop-pedalled sound composition.
With this piece we aim to raise awareness of the realities of living with autism & asperger's syndrome on a day-to-day basis, as well as the personal, societal and political ramifications associated with living with autism in the 21st century.
The piece is structured in poetic free-verse, moving fluidly between the past, present and future of John: a man living with Asperger’s Syndrome – a developmental condition found on the autism spectrum.
The piece is performed by Aisling Fahey (Young London Poet Laureate 2014) & actor-musician Jamie Scott-Smith.
Following early research & development stages, the piece is now undergoing a week-long residency to be developed into a full-length production at Battersea Arts Centre this February.
We are seeking your support to help raise funds to cover the costs of purchasing much-needed technical equipment including a loop pedal, specialised microphones to pick up nuanced sounds, microphone stands & XLR cables.
