Successful language hubs providing community facilities in Wales and Ireland show us the way forward. It's time now for the Gaelic community to take practical steps towards establishing a Gaelic hub in Scotland's capital.
A major community survey that we ran last year showed overwhelming support for a Gaelic hub in Edinburgh, for Gaelic cultural events, meetings and classes, for all ages. There is particularly strong demand for an informal Gaelic social space where Gaelic speakers could meet casually.
As we raise funds to acquire a space of our own, we are running a range of events, including community days, classes and workshops, lectures and discussions and walking tours.
