Co-op Warm Spaces Funding Boost has provided £820 of match funding
We provide a warm space for anyone to come and have a rest, a chat, some food, play a game, or just to sit and read a book. All are welcome.
The Telford and Wrekin Interfaith Council is made up of Faith and Community groups from the Borough of Telford and Wrekin. Our vision is to keep UNITY within our Community by fostering communication, respect, and inclusivity to everyone within the Borough and beyond. We are here to Serve, Support, and Care for everyone who needs our help.
We believe that by working together to eradicate the inequalities within our society, we can build a closer, more accepting, and more inclusive community who are there for each other. We also believe that by working with the youth of the Borough we can help them become the leaders that the community and the world needs to improve the future for everyone.
We currently run the official Out of Hours Emergency Food Service for the residents of Telford and Wrekin, delivering over 150,000 meals during 2022.
Many people and families in the Telford and Wrekin Borough (as well as the U.K. as a whole) are struggling with the cost of living at this time. Not only have fuel and energy prices increased, food, goods, and other items have also increased, whilst people’s income have not increased accordingly.
Since Nov 2022 we have been providing a Warm Space for anyone to come along and keep warm, have a meal (or just a drink and snacks), play a board game, join in with some craft, watch a movie, have a chitchat, or just read a book. This project has been funded and support by Telford and Wrekin Council. This funding runs until the end of March 2023.
We believe that although winter is coming to and end, the daily struggle due to the cost of living crisis will continue to hit individuals and families hard, which means they will still need ongoing support in the months ahead.
The donations raised will mainly be spent on the ensuring the space is available, and the space is warm and inviting. It will also be spent on hot/healthy food, and well as additional food parcels for those who require additional help.
We will also use the funds to ensure we have enough activities available for children and adults alike.
A small amount of funds will be used to ensure staff and volunteers are available and trained, with all the required certifications in place to offer a safe environment.
