Aim

We teach ancient Chinese exercises to develop inner heat through specialised movements and breathing techniques when the weather's cold.

Who are we?

Lishi Leeds is a registered charity that has been running classes across the city for years. We teach an ancient Chinese system of exercise that helps people move and think more fluidly whilst generating inner heat and energy. 

Community impact

People of all ages come to our classes that we run in Hyde Park, Chapeltown, Chapel Allerton, Otley and online.

We provide a warm space with warm people where we learn to warm our bodies up and maintain our inner fire which is key to having energy for living and being resilient when times are tough.

Why are we crowdfunding?

Everything has gone up! Rent, heating, transport to classes. We've had to invest in internet and laptops and webcams and microphones so we can broadcast our classes to people who are unable to make it in person. Plus we have lots of requests to open new classes at different times, days and locations and we'd like to be able to meet that demand and allow more people to benefit from our classes. 

How we’ll spend the money raised

Firstly, we will pay for heating to be on before classes start so when people arrive the space is warm and welcoming. We will invest in different ways of promoting the classes so we can give more people the opportunity to experience and benefit from the exercises we teach. We will extend our bookings and provide Chinese tea and socialising time at the venue after the class finishes thereby strengthening the community.

We will also look to offer additional classes on weekends, during the daytime and also open a kids class where children can learn to harness and focus their energies and their parents can watch.

We would also like to install and upgrade internet at all class locations so more people can join in even if they can't get to the venue.
