New stretch target

With the extra funding our ensemble will subsidise live performances of 'Northern Soul: music in a cold climate' programme in festivals and venues that could not otherwise promote such an event,

What:

The recording will be called Music in a Cold Climate: Sounds of Hansa Europe. We will record beautiful and rarely heard 17th century music from England, Denmark, Holland and northern Germany on copies of historical instruments (cornetto, viol, trombone, violin and organ). The music is by composers who travelled to and fro on the old trade routes of the Hanseatic League, showing that our countries were connected - then as now. We have also commissioned a moving new piece from English composer Andrew Keeling.

Where:

The recording will take place in the stunning acoustic of Romsey Abbey in Hampshire, using a unique replica renaissance organ built by the firm of Goetze & Gwynne (we will be looking for volunteers to pump its hand-operated bellows). There is nowhere and nothing else like it.

Who:

in Echo is a UK-based period instrument classical music ensemble. We receive no funding and have no reserves to fall back on. We are Gawain Glenton (cornetto), Bojan Cicic (violin), Anaïs Chen (violin/viola), Richard Boothby (viol), Emily White (trombone) and Silas Wollston (organ).

How much:

We need £5,000 just to cover basic expenses and production costs. Even the smallest contribution toward this is deeply valued. Please share in our project and help us bring the beauty of the past to modern ears and audiences. Projects like ours are impossible without the kind support and generosity of music lovers such as you.
