We need your support to purchase indoor hockey goals and sideboards and to support additional hockey opportunities in our community
We are a grassroots hockey club in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, with participation for all, sporting development and wellbeing at the heart of our activities.
The club was founded in 1989 as a single indoor team and has grown from this small sporting seed into a vibrant hockey community.
Our growth and success would not have been possible without the amazing efforts of so many people.
The original indoor goals and sideboards that started the club off have perished over the decades and it has been a club aspiration for several years to facilitate and advance the indoor version of the game, in our rural locality, by replacing this equipment and this is where we need your help
Indoor hockey is a fast, skillful and action-packed version of the outdoor game that is both a great entry point for new players and a hothouse for stick skills, fitness, and fun for existing players. The benefit to youth players' development is particularly significant.

We estimate that our club has suffered a £6,000 shortfall in our funds as a result of playing facilities being closed and an inability to undertake our normal fundraising activities over the past two playing seasons as a result of the pandemic (with insurance and facility care expenditure having continued during this period).
This is a significant sum of money for a club like ours and as a result, has meant we have not been able to invest in planned developments as we would have hoped for.

A fantastic opportunity has been presented to us with an agreement to access a suitable indoor facility in our hometown. Acquiring indoor goals and sideboards is now all that is required for us to bring this exciting version of the game to many of our youth players and local secondary school children for the first time, who have been sadly deprived of sporting opportunities over the sequential periods of lockdown.
Sport England has highlighted that team sports have been hardest hit during COVID with such activities down 16% and the folding of youth hockey teams in our regional hockey leagues this season has been a stark reminder of this downturn.
Our club's vision is to be a positive force in addressing this drop in the physical literacy of local children and young people

We are looking to fund the purchase of two indoor goals and 60m of indoor hockey sideboards so that more players can access appropriate training facilities, more often and more locally (currently, players are traveling significant distances to access indoor hockey facilities in Bristol and Cheltenham, which is simply not an option for many).
By using this crowdfunding platform we hope that players, families and friends of the sport might proudly invest in our sporting youth in particular who are outstanding role models and leave a sporting legacy for years to come.
We also want to be able to say a big thank you to our supporters by offering you rewards as tokens of our gratitude for your generosity.
If that wasn't reason enough, we have been selected for additional fund matching via Sport England 'Active together' grant which will add a 35% top-up to your donation, provided we raise the remainder of our target.

Our equipment purchase costs are estimated at;
A pair of indoor goals £1,300
60m of indoor hockey boards £2,400
Any 'stretch' funds raised will be invested as a community fund to maximise hockey opportunities, particularly for new and youth players
There are three simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge and claim a reward. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Donate a reward either as a business or as an individual (this could be an experience or event, a product or a service) and encourage others to make a pledge. Email: [email protected] to discuss
3. Comment and leave a message of support. It would be great for others to see why you have donated! And then share this link with your family and friends. Every penny counts!
