This children's history picture book will help children explore Inverness' past in a fun and accessible way.
Adventure awaits!
Join Morag and her lively dog Hamish as they uncover the story of the wonderful Scottish city of Inverness in this beautifully illustrated children’s history book.

Where did Inverness come from?
From ancient burial grounds and powerful kings, to legendary battles, famous faces and even mythical monsters, the amazing story of Inverness is waiting to be explored.
About the book
Incredible Inverness is an exciting and accessible book that will introduce children to Inverness’ landmarks, buildings and famous faces. Inside, you will find:
- a timeline of Inverness’ history
- a map of the city
- a detailed cross-section of Inverness Town House
- a look at Loch Ness and Culloden
- and much more!
The book will include input from organisations including the Highland Archive Centre, Inverness Museum, ARCH Highland, Highland Council, Inverness Heritage Forum and Highland Archaeology Services.
About the Team
In 2023, author Ewen Watson self-published the children’s book Fantastic Forres about his hometown. The book features beautiful illustrations from Sathya Schlösser and has become a go-to resource for local schools, heritage groups and libraries in the area.
Local Schools
As with their previous book, Ewen and Sathya plan to donate copies of Incredible Inverness to local schools and run interactive talks, so every child can benefit.
How your backing will help
Your support will cover the costs of printing a first run of 2,000 paperback copies of Incredible Inverness. With your help, the book can reach children, schools and families across Inverness and beyond.
Morag & Hamish are ready to continue their adventure and the next stop is Inverness!
Thank you for your support!
