Who are we?
Bedford Tigers Wheelchair Rugby League is an inclusive club that brings together disabled and non-disabled players to enjoy one of the most exciting and accessible forms of rugby league.
Our club provides opportunities for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to train, compete and become part of a supportive sporting community. We are committed to breaking down barriers to participation and ensuring that everyone who wants to experience wheelchair rugby league has the opportunity to do so.
As our membership continues to grow, we are proud to provide a welcoming environment where players can develop skills, improve fitness, build confidence and form lasting friendships.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Wheelchair rugby league is a unique sport, but participation depends on access to specialist equipment.
As Bedford Tigers continues to grow, demand for training and competition opportunities is increasing. To meet this demand, we need to maintain and repair our existing rugby league wheelchairs, purchase additional chairs for new players, and provide essential playing equipment and kit.
Thanks to a conditional award from Sport England's Movement Fund, every pound raised through this campaign will help unlock an additional £3,000 of funding for the project.

How we’ll spend the money raised
We aim to raise £6,000, made up of community support and Sport England match funding.
The funding will be used to increase access to wheelchair rugby league by purchasing additional rugby league wheelchairs, maintaining and repairing our existing equipment, and providing essential playing kit and accessories. Specifically, £3,800 will be invested in additional wheelchairs and specialist equipment, £1,400 in maintenance, repairs and replacement parts, £500 in equipment and accessories, and £300 in playing kit.
This investment will enable us to welcome more players, ensure our equipment remains safe and reliable, and support the continued growth of wheelchair rugby league in Bedford. By reducing equipment barriers, we can provide more opportunities for disabled and non-disabled participants to train, compete and be part of our inclusive sporting community.
Community impact
Bedford Tigers Wheelchair Rugby League delivers far more than sport.
The club provides opportunities for physical activity, social connection, confidence building and personal development. Our sessions bring together disabled and non-disabled participants in an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute and succeed.
The club also supports local education and workforce development through placement opportunities for students studying sport, rehabilitation and allied healthcare-related disciplines. These experiences help future professionals gain valuable insight into inclusive sport and working with athletes of different abilities.
By increasing access to equipment, we can welcome more participants into our rugby league family and continue creating positive opportunities across the community.
