Worldwide Deaf Gym Ltd is on a mission to revolutionise the fitness industry by addressing pervasive issues of accessibility and inclusion faced by deaf individuals.
Founded by David Edgington, a qualified Personal Trainer profoundly deaf and fluent in British Sign Language (BSL), our unique approach stems from identifying a critical gap in the current fitness landscape.
Esmail Patel, our Business Development Director, enriches our leadership team with personal experiences and a commitment to the deaf community. Profoundly deaf and fluent in BSL, Esmail brings both a personal connection and professional expertise in business management. Meanwhile, Christine McKeown, our Director, contributes extensive managerial, funding, and campaigning expertise. As a hearing parent of two deaf sons, she has over 25 years of advocacy and collaboration within the deaf community.
Aligning with legal and ethical frameworks, our initiative focuses on accessibility and equal opportunities. Emphasising adjustments for deaf individuals, we uphold the rights of the deaf, following standards and promoting inclusivity in fitness and recreational activities. Through fitness facility strategic improvements, staff training, and technology, we empower deaf individuals in their fitness pursuits, ensuring inclusive environments.
