Aim

We are refurbishing our changing rooms to create safe, modern facilities that support the growth of women’s and girls’ cricket at GPCC.

Who are we?

Great Preston Cricket Club is a welcoming community cricket club that has been at the heart of the village for many years. We provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to play, learn and enjoy cricket in a friendly and supportive environment.

The club runs junior teams, senior teams and community cricket sessions, helping young people and adults stay active while building friendships and confidence through sport.

In recent years we have seen a growing number of women and girls wanting to get involved in cricket at the club. We are passionate about supporting this growth and making sure everyone feels welcome and included when they come to play.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are raising funds to refurbish and modernise our changing rooms so they are suitable for women and girls.

At the moment our facilities are outdated and do not provide the privacy and comfort needed for female players. This creates a barrier for women and girls who want to train, play matches and be part of the club.

With the growth of women’s cricket across the UK, we want to ensure Great Preston Cricket Club can provide a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment where female players feel comfortable and confident.

Sport England has recognised the importance of this project and has offered to match fund £6,950 if we can raise the same amount from our community through Crowdfunder.

Your support will help us unlock this funding and make the project possible.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will go directly towards improving the club’s changing facilities so they meet the needs of women and girls.

Project budget – £13,900

• Strip-out and preparation work – £1,200
• Plumbing and electrical upgrades – £2,700
• Installation of private changing cubicles – £2,200
• Replacement toilets, sinks and showers – £2,800
• New flooring, wall panels, lighting and ventilation – £3,500
• Decoration and finishing – £1,000
• Contingency – £500

To keep costs as low as possible, some of the work will be carried out by club members who are qualified tradesmen, with additional volunteer help for preparation and decorating.

Community impact

This project will help remove barriers that currently prevent women and girls from participating fully in cricket at Great Preston Cricket Club.

By improving our facilities we will be able to:

• Support the growth of women’s and girls’ cricket
• Encourage more local people to be active
• Provide a safe and welcoming space for female players
• Host women’s matches and events at the club
• Strengthen the club’s role as a community hub

The club is more than just a place to play cricket. It is a place where people come together, make friends, volunteer and support one another.
