To preserve and protect the mental health of children and young people aged 4-18 in the Cheddar Valley
We’re The Space - a small, local mental health charity with a big heart. Based in Cheddar, we support the emotional wellbeing of children, young people, and families through counselling, play therapy, youth clubs, and community projects.
✅ Over 700 young lives supported every year
But we can't do it alone.
We rely on funding, grants and donations to deliver our work - and in today's climate, these sources are increasingly limited - both in availability and in the level of support they can offer.
To continue protecting the mental health of children and young people, we need the backing of our community and beyond. Together, we can make sure every child has the support they deserve.

About The Space
In 2016, a brave young girl named Leah shared her mental health struggles with two community members. That conversation sparked a movement - and The Space was born.
Since then, we’ve become a safe haven for children and teens facing anxiety, trauma, isolation, and the pressures of growing up. We also support parents, carers, and schools, offering early help before problems become crises.
From 2 founders to a passionate team of 11 therapists and staff, 5 Trustees and 18 volunteers, we've delivered...
✅ Families say: “We don’t know what we’d do without The Space.”
Be Part of Something Powerful
The Space is proof of what a caring community can do. We’ve seen confidence grow, hope return, and lives change - just by showing up.
