Canolfan Beaumaris is a community run Leisure Centre, run as a not for profit organisation by a group of volunteers who came together to prevent its closure and a small, dedicated team of staff.
However, we are more than just a leisure centre. We do all sorts of activities, from art classes to children's activities, quiz nights to birthday parties. Plus we are a thriving concert venue, holding such events as the prestigious Beaumaris Festival, and an exciting line up of shows and musical performances. And it is this area that our project aims to improve.

Our concerts are held in the main sports hall. The 'cabaret' style is the set-up we use for more intimate or formal events and uses tables, dressed with tablecloths dotted around the room. Despite our best efforts to give the hall a more glamourous feel, it still tends to feel somewhat cold and austere. In short, it still feels like the sports hall that it is during the day.
The aim of this project is to make the hall a nicer environment in which to hold cabaret events. We want to upgrade the furniture we use to make the room feel more attractive and comfortable - we would like some new chairs and some round tables. We would also like to install fabric coverings on the ceiling and the walls, which would lower the ceiling, hide the metal lighting girders, hide the bare, blue painted brick of the walls (blue is a good colour for sports, but not for cosy events), and make the hall feel cosier and more appealing.
