Improved toilet facilities at our camping field

Aim

The 45th Norwich Scout Group are raising funds to finish a new toilet and shower block at our camping field in north east Norfolk

We are lucky to have a camping field near Sea Palling on the Norfolk Coast where outdoor activities (e.g. camps and fundays) are organised throughout the year for all members of the Group.

Initially, a wooden building (see picture below) was converted with two cubicles (each with a chemical toilet) and two hand basins.  A few years later, after much fundraising a septic tank was installed and flush toilets replaced the chemical ones – luxury!!

However, over the years it has become apparent that this was not sufficient to provide suitable facilities for the growing numbers of users of the field.  

In 2019 planning started for a new ablutions block, with the aim of it being complete in time for the start of summer activities in 2020.  

Sadly, due to the restrictions that were in place for most of 2020 this target wasn’t met.    However, due to the support of a number of parents a start was made on the construction.   Working within the Covid guidelines the volunteers have built and clad the walls, constructed the roof and have fitted the windows and made a start on the doorframes. The photos below show the current state.

As well as the virus impacting the completion of the ablution block it has also had a massive impact on the Group’s ability to fundraise – hence this crowdfunding application.

Despite the fantastic support of a number of local businesses we need to raise funds to allow us to complete the fitting out of the block, and provide the improved facilities.   Any monies raised will be spent on the purchase and installation of the sanitary ware and water heaters,  completion of the electrical work and flooring.
