Support us in creating an exploratory short film addressing the intricacies of conformity, as we dance down our own path to arts inclusion.

When Vincenzo Rossi - a world-renowned critic with the ability to make or break careers with a single review - arrives, the Atlantic dance school must put aside their differences to qualify for the Royal J A Championships.
Will they impress Vincenzo?

This film is for the kind of person who would love to watch a Pixar film as well as a drama like Whiplash or Black Swan.
We thought it'd be really interesting to explore a "bubble world" like our fictitious Atlantic Dance School, and see what happens when a character who, on paper, wouldn't fit in joins this regimental environment.
In a space that can make one feel excluded, the arrival of this character triggers others to unravel their own unresolved emotional knots. But with the threat of Vincenzo Rossi looming, when everything seems to be going to anything but the plan, how will our team fare for the qualifiers?
This is part inspired by the director's own experiences with dance, as someone who has experienced part of this world. He understands the harsh attitudes that can arise from the competitive nature of the environment, as beautiful as the artform itself is.
Our goal is to leave subtle messages throughout the story that leads to the bigger picture. Giving our audience that final "OHHH!" moment as it all clicks together when they story wraps up.
We're very excited to bring our film to life, bringing a feel good, deep dive drama to hopefully a screen near you soon! Please do check out the rest of our project & team details below, and of course the all wonderful perks!

Some words from our Production Designer, Harvey McDonald:
One of the overarching themes of Impressing Vincenzo is that of fitting into, and true inclusion into the social in group. Samantha’s main story arc directly feeds into this, so to show on screen how she differs from the social in group of the established dance community of the Atlantic Dance is through the use of costume. The established dancers are in all black, with an almost all uniform look to them, to evoke an almost militaristic attitude to dance. Flawless perfection of the ideal dancer almost silhouetted against the white walls of the dance studio. This contrasts with Samantha costume, which is more unique, bright and bold splashes of colours and shapes for someone whose core ideals are that of individuality, inner expression and joy.
The use of colour to evoke the dichotomy of the harsh coldness of the Dancer’s attitudes compared with the passionate warmth of Samantha also extends to locations and set dressing. The use of the cold white walls of the dance studio , desaturated blues, greys and blacks feeds into that cold harsh perfection ideal. We contrast that with the warmth of friendship, comradery and allyship ideas that we bring to the forefront when we consider the finale message. The warmer colours of the colour wheel feature more prominently in our finale.

Our team was assembled by the National Youth Film Academy.
We are determined to share experiences, whether they be in the film industry or elsewhere, to not only craft an intelligent film but also support one another in our on-going careers. Each of us is bringing something to the table, very similarly to our characters, and we cannot wait to see where it takes us. Making a film is not easy, with the unexpected often happening. But we have each other to lean on, as well as the incredible help from you.

In order to succeed in crafting a film to the highest standards, we need you. And to be extremely transparent, we need your money. Anyone with even a slight understanding of the filmmaking process knows money doesn't go very far on set, especially when we are committed to ensuring everyone is suitably looked after.
Here is a simple breakdown of our target budget, showing each of the elements your donations will contribute towards.
We are offering rewards for those who donate certain amounts, which are available to view to the side of this page. If you would like to opt out of anything, and purely donate for nothing, then please do let us know when it comes to confirming.

Money isn't everything! If you aren't in a position to donate, there are lots of other ways of supporting our film. We would massively appreciate sharing of any kind, whether it be through word of mouth or our social media pages. We are passionate about producing this film to the best standard it can be, allowing it to reach the most people it can. If there's a platform, we probably have an account!
Following, liking and sharing would be incredible, and won't cost a pound. We would be grateful for anything.
