Aim

"I'm Not Creative": a documentary about loneliness and creativity. Follow Flossy the lonely clown's quest for connection.

Hello 😊

I’m Lois, a local artist, clown and facilitator who has recently returned to Worcester after 20 years exploring the planet. I am passionate about bringing therapeutic arts to the masses and, as part of my master's in Creative Practice, I am making a documentary called ‘I’m Not Creative’.

I’m Not Creative – a documentary about loneliness and creativity, is a feature length documentary featuring Flossy the lonely clown who has returned to Worcester after 20 years travelling the globe in search of adventure. Over the years she has visited many countries soaking up their vibrant cultures, studying their music, song and dance, fascinated by how shared creative experiences build connection within communities.

Her hometown of Worcester, however, seems like a mysterious land. Things are different here. Here people claim they’re not creative! Here people look at her oddly when she approaches! She feels like an alien. In her search for a creative community Flossy sets out on a mission to find friends by interacting playfully with the people she encounters on the streets of Worcester. Will Flossy find her tribe and combat her loneliness?

Using clowning as a way of approaching the general public, Lois will conduct a social experiment to evaluate what leads people to believe they are ‘uncreative’. Lois is a multidisciplinary, therapeutic arts facilitator whose work brings people together through creative play – a model she calls Creative Circles. She firmly believes this work can benefit everyone especially those who feel lonely or isolated. Through this documentary she wants to test her theory by coaxing some self-proclaimed ‘un-creatives’ to her workshops to see whether she can convince them otherwise.  Along the way, Lois will get to know the people who are working hard to make Worcester’s up and coming participatory arts scene as wide reaching as possible, highlighting the amazing work they do.

So, follow Flossy as she makes a song and dance about the importance of the arts in helping us feel better together through sharing her vulnerability, laughter and lots of cups of tea!
