National charity Youth at Risk are looking for £2000 Crowdfunding, to invest into young peoples’ talents in the Ignition Newhaven programme.
National charity Youth at Risk are looking for £2000 Crowdfunding, to invest into young peoples’ talents in the Ignition Newhaven programme.
This is a unique personal development programme for local young people so that they can create aspirational and exciting futures, and build positive community networks.

The programme costs of Ignition Newhaven have been met by the Henry Smith Foundation. The money we’re looking for through Crowdfunding would enable us to invest in the talents and aspirations of the young people who participate in the programme. This may be supporting them to set up their own business or social enterprise, get a qualification, or travel overseas.
A panel made up of representatives from Newhaven Foyer, Youth at Risk, programme volunteers, local business people/entrepreneurs and other key adults from within the local community, would consider each application for investment. There would be no strict criteria for application, any investments made would have to support the young person in-line with the goals they set themselves on the course. Young people will be asked to present a business case (working individually or in teams) about why the investment is needed, what support is in place to ensure it will be used effectively and what tangible outcomes would be achieved.
Examples of applications:
A young person who is looking to set up as a self-employed window cleaner but who first needs to pass the driving test in order to be mobile. The panel might consider whether the young person has taken any steps towards the driving test already, e.g. has applied for a provisional licence or already passed the theory test, in order to assess how committed the young person is and whether it would be a worthwhile investment.
A young person who wants to study photography at college but who needs a decent digital SLR camera in order to carry out course work and assessments. The panel might consider whether the young person has already applied to college and/or secured a place on a course.
A young person wishing to coach football to children living on the estate they grew up on, but who needs to complete the FA level 1 and 2 coaching courses. The panel might consider whether the young person does any kind of voluntary work with children or is involved in community football in some way, as a demonstration of commitment.
