We're excited to announce we are moving into our new home soon. Help us get the space ready to continue our suicide-prevention service.
After weeks of uncertainty, ICM are absolutely delighted to announce that they will be leasing GW Hurley Newsagents (‘‘little Hurley’s’’) on Burnham-on-Sea High Street from December this year.
The current owners, Monika and Colin Morris reached out to the charity when they heard the news, and more than just offering a suitable space in the heart of Burnham, they have secured ICM a home for the next 15 years.
Dawn Carey CEO said “We are now in the position to announce this exciting development, and we invite the community to view our plans and ideas for the new space and contribute to making them a reality on our Crowdfunder page, which is solely dedicated to our renovation costs. Every donation will help us get back up and running in our new home and saving lives again.
Dawn continued “I want to personally thank Monika and Colin for their support and determination to provide ICM a home in what is a very important building to them, and to the history of our High Street. Thank you to every single member of our community who has donated to our appeal so far or has reached out to offer us support. There are too many to mention individually, but please know how much it is appreciated by our team, clients and the wider community. The level of support we have received is a testament to how much our community values the work we do here at ICM."
We are leaving behind 10 brilliant counselling rooms, a cosy office space, and an open waiting room to welcome in our clients.
Our new home will need outfitting with the following:
Our plans for the new office include much more! We want to grow our service, to provide something for the community as a whole, not just for those who are in need of mental health support.
We want to create a space within our service to host regular community events to support the sense of community and spirit found in Burnham-on-Sea and the surrounding towns. Our office staff have been brainstorming event ideas for this space, such as:
This community space will be available outside of our service hours, and will include comfy sofas/chairs, a kitchenette, and a sense of privacy despite being right on the High Street.
Dawn, CEO, said "When ICM left Burnham six years ago to take up our premises in Highbridge, we were a small charity. Today, with the continued support of the community, we are returning to Burnham as an established leading regional provider of suicide prevention and mental health care with an outstanding reputation and brimming with awards for our work.
We are so excited to be back in Burnham-on-Sea and with the space we now have available to us, the future is very bright. There is a lot of work to do to get the premises up and running as a counselling service, but every single penny that people are donating will go into transforming this much-loved newsagent into a safe and inspiring space for our clients and community."
