Ice Cool Kids raises money to enable children and young adults with additional needs to ski. Our aim is to allow these special youngsters to achieve and experience what would otherwise not be possible. It is a fully inclusive activity with local mainstream children and adult volunteers being encouraged to assist in Ski sessions. It encourages all to work cooperatively together as part of a team.

6Ice Cool Kids was formed in March 2006 to enable children with additional needs the opportunity to experience skiing and ultimately an experience on snow from which they will normally be excluded. Participating in this therapeutic activity not only allows them to fulfil a dream but also brings a huge sense of fun, enjoyment and achievement. Skiing helps promote coordination, balance, movement control and general health and well-being. It enables the children to develop their functional abilities and reach their full potential, improving their independence and quality of life.
Ice Cool Kids is a South Wales-based charity that has supported over 250 children and young adults aged 3-25 with additional needs and their families. We do this by organising monthly dry slope ski sessions at the Pembrey Ski Centre; Residential Ski weekends at the Urdd Centre in Llangrannog and trips to the Alps to ski on snow. Current members travel from Cardigan, Haverfordwest, Builth Wells, Monmouthshire, Powys Swansea, Neath and Cardiff. Any child with a disability is welcomed and the emphasis is on encouraging every child to develop their skills and to enjoy skiing, whatever their disability. The families and volunteers have worked hard with non-stop fundraising to enable these activities.
We have been fundraising for over 5 years to take our members on the trip of a lifetime to ski on snow in the Alps. There will be over 50 people involved in taking these children and young adults.
Ice Cool Kids has raised 85% of the funds required and we have until March 2024 to reach our target. We fund all our ski guides, helpers and our 20 skiers We are appealing to the generosity of the generous public to help us raise the £10,000 needed to fully fund this experience.
