Aim

I am Mohammed Saleem demands an end to institutional Islamophobia and for the government to adopt the people’s definition of Islamophobia.

Mohammad Saleem was brutally attacked and killed by a neo-Nazi terrorist whilst walking home from his local mosque on 29 April 2013. The very same Nazi went on a three-month bombing campaign and put bombs outside three mosques across the West Midlands. This was one of the biggest acts of terrorism on UK soil. Yet, to this day most people have no idea about this case.

Attacks of this nature do not happen in a vacuum. Individuals are emboldened to act on their hate because they are empowered by the endless racism across social media, Islamophobic headlines that we are exposed to daily, and the anti-Muslim policies pushed through by our government.

Each day that we see the normalisation of islamophobia growing, we are more and more at risk of facing such attacks. This is why the late Mohammed Saleem’s daughter, Maz has been fighting tirelessly against the continued oppression of Muslims and all communities around the world.

However, she is unable to meet the demands of the campaign and her efforts, without your support.

We are raising funds to develop the necessary resources for the #IAMMOHAMMEDSALEEM campaign to grow and strengthen the grassroots efforts against Islamophobia. This includes not just the day-to-day running around, speaking engagements, workshops, and actions that are being organised by Maz Saleem, but also broader aims to mobilise from below.

´I Am Mohammed Saleem’ Campaign Aims:

-Force the government to finally adopt the people’s definition of Islamophobia. There is a deep distrust of our political establishment and they cannot be relied on to define the very oppression they have wielded for their political agendas.

-Hold a national conference during Islamophobia Awareness Month 2021 (November) alongside trade unions, students, teachers, workers, journalists, artists, religious leaders, community organisers, anti-racist organisations, and think-tanks. This will be an opportunity to bring together and strengthen a mass movement against Islamophobia and establish an official definition that we can lobby the government to formally and legally adopt.

Please donate anything that you can and circulate amongst others.

May our intentions be accepted, and the aims of the Campaign be fulfilled.

Thank you for your generosity.
