Aim

This campaign aims to increase the number of defibrillators from 1 to 5 across the parish significantly increasing access to save lives

Each year in Britain around 30,000 people are struck by sudden cardiac arrest outside of hospital environments. They can affect anyone at any time – from young children at school, to adults when they’re at home, work or out in public places.

If victims aren’t treated properly, more often than not, cardiac arrests are fatal. The British Heart Foundation’s figures show that only one in ten victims survive and for every minute that a patient is in cardiac arrest without a defibrillator their chance of survival drops by 10%.

As a rural community the chance of a longer response time from calling 999 is likely to mean that the key to anyone in the village surviving a cardiac arrest is for someone in the village to access and use a community defibrillator on their neighbour.

Currently only one defibrillator in the village does not provide sufficient cover to mean that there is always a defibrillator near by when the need arises  - we aim to secure funds for a minimum of five defibrillators but if we raise more we will keep going until everywhere is covered and everyone is trained.
