We will tour to 10 UK theatre venues with socially distanced performances of our new production of Carmen in autumn 2021.
Background
Due to the pandemic, we have moved our UK tour of Carmen from 2020 to autumn 2021. These dates are in place for London, the Midlands, the East, North of England and Wales. By purchasing tickets now, you are helping Agudo Dance Company to secure match funding of up to £5,000 through the Pay It Forwards scheme, initiated by the Mayor of London. You will be assisting our company recovery plan, securing jobs for our incredible team of 14 dancers and collaborators, but also helping UK theatres to present socially distanced performances.

Agudo Dance Company are based in the London borough of Croydon. We create ambitious, evocative and thought-provoking dance productions for the international stage. Our vision is to take people on a journey through the senses. We invite spectators and participants alike to be moved in every sense - physical, emotional, and cerebral. In choreography and performance, we connect people to the cathartic experience of dance, where creativity, good health and wellness are the essence of being alive.

Carmen
Artistic Director, Jose Agudo draws upon his unique palette of Flamenco and contemporary dance to create this dramatic adaptation of Prosper Merimée’s classic novella. The company deliver a rich tapestry of human motives and emotions, unravelling the complex exchange between conformity and freedom; the tension unleashed by obsessive human behaviour, the desire for self-disclosure and upholding the right to be free. Set to an original Flamenco infused score by Bernhard Schimpelsberger and additional track by Kefaya, Carmen is a story about individuality, accountability, freedom and love, and the belief that our journey of twists and turns we call life is always valuable.
We look forward to meeting you on this journey!
Warm wishes,
Jose Agudo & Claire Cunningham
