Hucklow Summer School Bursary Fund

Aim

The Hucklow Summer School Bursary Fund offers support to people who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend this educational event.

Help us make Hucklow Summer School available for everyone, whatever their financial circumstances, in line with our Unitarian value of equality. Residential events like this one cost a lot to run but they can be truly life-changing. 

Hucklow Summer School is a week-long Unitarian gathering, held each August in the Peak District, which brings people together to focus on religious and spiritual questions around our deepest human concerns. Our core activity is religious education for adults, and our intention is to draw out the potential of all participants, and to encourage, inspire, and revitalise activists and leaders within our progressive religious movement. Hucklow Summer School is, for many, a transformative experience which makes a lasting impact.

We offer a rich mix of activities, for heart and head, and a variety of optional sessions showcasing activities which participants might “take home” and try out in their own communities. We also ensure that there are plenty of opportunities for relaxed fellowship and fun during the week. Summer School brings Unitarians together and allows them to get to know each other deeply and form lasting connections. This annual event is organised by the Hucklow Summer School Panel, a team of volunteers convened by Jane Blackall, and it operates as part of the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches in the UK. 

We are determined that cost should not be a barrier to attendance and so we need to raise around £5000 each year for the Hucklow Summer School Bursary Fund. This enables us to signficantly subsidise the cost of attendance for those who would not otherwise be able to afford it and ensures that people on lower incomes are not prevented from accessing this trasnformative event. 

Please do give generously to support access to Hucklow Summer School, which will help open it up to a new generation of activists and leaders, and thus will surely benefit our wider Unitarian movement as we look to the future.
