Help us publish our second Queer Anthology, Hot Flashes
They say everyone has a story in them. In fact everyone tells stories every day - jokes, what happened at work, 'I said – then he said'.
Getting them down on paper is a different matter. People, especially young people, feel inhibited.
I don't know what to say.
I'm not educated enough.
Nobody'd be interested.
Writing's for posh people.
For the last two years we've been running free workshops for young and fledgling LGBT+ writers designed to get rid of those inhibitions. We make it as easy as possible to get started. We take this as our watchword:
'How do you start to run a marathon? – You put one foot in front of the other.'
We offer many encouragements apart from love and support. We share skills and ideas, we publish a magazine as an online outlet – Flash PPink. And we publish anthologies of Flash Fiction.
Flash Fiction allows for short experiments without risk. If you don't like what you've written, it's easy to go on to another story.
Flash Dances [published Nov 2024] platformed 32 new writers with 150 stories.
Now comes its sequel, Hot Flashes, due to be published in Spring 2026.
But we need your support: We need to raise £1500 to cover printing and publishing costs, to give a voice to new LGBT+ writers.
Writing is an essential part of mental well-being. It brings order where there is confusion, affirmation where there is oppression, confidence where there is doubt, calm where there is inner conflict.
