We're still collecting donations
On the 24th July 2022 we'd raised £1,780 with 22 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
To create a garden for all our community where we will grow and learn about flowers, fruits and vegetables, and feel the benefits of nature
by Horsforth Community Garden in Leeds, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom
On the 24th July 2022 we'd raised £1,780 with 22 supporters in 49 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Horsforth resident Janet Little had an idea, to share her love of gardening and delight in seeing something grow, through a community garden. Over the last 12 months this seed of an idea has taken root and grown into a plan.
A dedicated team of Horsforth residents have worked to take on guardianship of a piece of land in Horsforth Hall Park, just outside the entrance to the Japanese Garden. Residents from the wider community were invited to comment on the proposed garden design via a number of consultations at various locations and a plan with costs has been set out.
We are now looking for people from all corners of our community to come together and make Horsforth Community Garden a success through donations of time, money, sponsorship or any of the items listed below. Your contributions and support are gratefully received.
PHASE 1
This will be to create the structure of the garden, that will include installing paths, so we can ensure the garden is fully accessible to everyone. Due to the garden being in a public place we need external contractors to do this structural work and we need the funds in place to be able to contract them.
The cost of Phase 1 will be around £7,000, of which the garden team have now raised £6,235 (as of 24th September 2022). This has been raised through this page, direct sponsorship from local businesses and local grant funding.
WE ARE SO GREATFUL TO EVERYONE WHO HAS DONATED SO FAR!
Once the paths are in place, we will be able to establish more in the garden.
PHASE 2 - YOU COULD HELP FUND:
Raised beds; Plants and Seeds; Fruit trees; Information boards; Soil; Water buts; Composting beds; Tables; Tools; Bug houses; Bird boxes & other equipment
WHAT THE GARDEN WILL PROVIDE
We know Horsforth is a very generous community and we hope that you might be able to give whatever you can to help turn this idea into a reality....
