My Name Is Shimi I am a 20 year old trans asylum seeker from Pakistan, I fled to the UK In March 2022, please help me with my transition.
Hi I'm Shimi I'm a 20 year old asylum seeker in the UK. I've been on the waiting list for my hormones but they said they cant help me for years. I am a transgender women and the wait for my transition really impacts my mental health. I'm from Pakistan I ran from there to be happy. But, I'm not currently happy, being stuck in the asylum system with no update, and not able to access hormones.
As an asylum seeker I get a weekly allowance of just over £40 a week, and I am not allowed to work. From the advice I have been given my best bet to secure hormones is a private prescription, however the consultation process costs over £700 and then more for the prescription itself. However I have no way to fund this myself.
Its hard for me to be a transwomen without hormones because I don't feel comfortable and I hide a lot things. Being able to access hormones will really help with my confidence, which I have struggled with and I'll be able to be my more natural self.
Being In the UK as an asylum seeker I believe I have the opportunity to transform my life and how I feel about myself, and getting hormones will help me to start to do that.
Any support you can offer, no matter how small is very much appreciated, and will allow me to build the life I dreamed of in the UK.
