Please help our club return from COVID 19 and secure its future. Help raise funds to improve facilities for our existing and future members.
OUR HISTORY: https://hoptonmills.play-cricket.com/home
Hopton Mills CC was formed as the ‘works team’ for the nearby Hopton Mills in 1896, the club has a strong tradition in village cricket. The cricket club was a recreational facility for workers, and they paid a shilling a year to the company in the form of a peppercorn rent.
The club is located in Lower Hopton, in the beautiful surround of Hopton Estate on the edge of Hagg Wood, it is arguably one of the most idyllic settings in Yorkshire (if we don't say so ourselves!). We have a strong ethos in producing quality junior cricketers (the future of todays game) and have in recent years invested heavily in the facilities at the club with a view to providing our cricketers with the best opportunity to perform.
OUR PURPOSE and VISION
As a club we believe that junior development is vitally important and are always looking for talented young cricketers to join our ranks but just as important we are looking for those (both junior and senior) that share our enjoyment passion and commitment for the game.
We now find ourselves in the Bradford League following the merger with the Central Yorkshire Cricket League, where the club had begun to establish itself. We look forward in the future to establishing ourselves in the Bradford League.
HOW CAN YOU HELP
Specifically your kindness will help rejuvenate the playing arena with money being invested in the cricket square, outfield and surrounding areas.
PLAYING SURFACE - NEW EQUIPMENT
In order to continue to meet league rules we need to invest in the playing surface but are currently using manual scarifying equipment so a more modern machine is required to help our volunteers. (Approx. £2000 brand new - Second hand £750)
PLAYING EQUIPMENT - NEW SIGHT SCREENS
We are in need for 2x new sight screens to comply with new ECB rules but these will also provide a more modern and health and safety aspect which comes with new screens. (Approx. £2000 each)
SPECTATORS - NEW SEATING AND VIEWING AREAS
The club sits proudly in a picturesque countryside style setting but lacks viewing areas and seating for spectators with limited and old/broken seating around the boundary edge. We would love to construct multiple seating areas with modern and long lasting benches, seats with views across the playing area. (Approx. £3000)
GROUND
Every year we have considerable damage due to winter rain fall towards the scorebox end of the ground due to a slope. We have been quoted £2900 for works to rectify an issue with the drainage that will aid playing conditions in the cricket season and reduce the number of rain affected games. Finally any additional monies will ensure the club and the ground are fit for purpose and can continue to exist as a community cricket club (Approx. £1000)
