Hootananny Inverness is facing the very difficult challenge of trying to survive whilst being unable to operate as a live music venue.
Hootananny Inverness is facing the very difficult challenge of trying to survive whilst being unable to operate as a live music venue.
To keep open, we have to generate £10,000 a month in running costs whilst being unable to operate to our full capacity!
We are struggling despite receiving a previous grant of £46,000 from Creative Scotland.
We are an independent family run community music venue without cash reserves, so for us the outbreak of COVID-19 and being unable to have live music or even background music has been a devastating blow.
Hoots supports the livelihood of over 53 people every week including , musicians, DJs, promoters, bar staff, security, kitchen staff, sound engineers, book keeper, cleaners & more.
At the moment we are closed every day apart from Saturdays and due to the limitations that does not cover our costs. Due to the ever-changing nature of the government advice, we don't currently know when we will be able to get back to full capacity, and this something that deeply worries us.
At this point, we're trying to get funding from every source possible, but we're now asking for your support. If you can, please help us to save our beloved grassroots venue.

About Save Our Venues - The Red List
During the last 8 months, Music Venue Trust and Crowdfunder have worked together to prevent the closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues. With no end to the crisis in sight, we are now refocusing that work to spotlight those venues under most imminent threat of permanent closure. The #SaveOurVenues Red List highlights the grassroots music venues at most risk.
Right now.
We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to prevent them being lost. These 32 venues are on the Critical List and need your help.
These grassroots venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of any village, town or city.
