Be part of our journey by supporting us in our production of an audiovisual EP ‘Homespun’ combining original animations with new music.
Hello & welcome to our exciting little collaborative project HOMESPUN. Our aim is to produce an audiovisual EP by combining the striking art work/animations by Maree Hughes with captivating new music by Davy Hughes & Trashcan Sinatras.
Maree is an award winning artist specialising in drawing, painting & printmaking. Based at The Courtyard Studios in Irvine North Ayrshire, she paints full time and runs evening art classes and Sunday watercolour workshops in the nearby Harbour Arts Centre.
“Because I can’t run any art classes due to COVID 19 I’ve had a bit of extra time to rethink what direction I can take my work in. This is something I wanted to try out for a long time so the crowdfund is a lifeline to future art work ideas”
Davy is a musician & songwriter with Trashcan Sinatras. A lot of recent tunes have been written and recorded on his faithful iPad.

The seed of this idea was planted at home during the lockdown when Maree began making little iPad animations of her artwork & combined an animation with one of Davy’s songs.
We loved the results and wanted to explore avenues to take it further. The chance to realise this idea came when Creative Scotland teamed up with Crowdfunder.co.uk to provide match funding on this project. Once we raise our target (there has to be at least 30 pledge's) Creative Scotland will match it up to a maximum of £5000. It's a fantastic opportunity to help us fulfil our aim and with your support we can make this happen!
We are hoping you can help us achieve our goal. If we raise enough money to hit certain targets, eg; the first target is to raise £1000 & Creative Scotland will match that amount.
Money raised will help us buy much needed new hardware and more sophisticated software to help us produce the best quality of images and music. We would also like to invest a little bit of time and money in some online training to enable our production of the 4 track digital audiovisual EP sound and look the very best it possibly can.
In return for your kind contributions we are offering a number of fantastic rewards including original prints, cards & artworks. Early access to finished animations & new music, with contributions from other members of Trashcan Sinatras, are included as rewards also. We will also provide regular updates & sneak previews of our progress.

Homespun EP Digital download
Anyone who pledges £10 or over will receive early access to our audiovisual EP of 4 new songs and animations. We are aiming to finish the EP by the end of December/January and will send you a download link once it is completed. We will keep you up to date with our progress.
Giclee Prints & Cards
For a £20 pledge you will receive early access to our audiovisual EP of 4 new songs and animations plus a giclee print on German etching paper plus a card. All prints are of original oil paintings by Maree. The prints measure 22cm X 18cm and were printed by Scotlands artists.com.
There are are now only 4 images to choose from (Blooming prints are all gone) 8 of each print. Images below.

Original lino cut prints
For a pledge of £45 you will receive a reward for early access to our audiovisual EP of 4 new songs and animations. Plus a limited edition original lino cut print with a choice of 2 images; Dragonfly or Mermaid in a bottle. All prints are part collage also and mounted to fit a regular frame size of 30cm x 20cm. We have 20 up for grabs, 10 of each image. All prints differ slightly and every single one is unique. Please state whether you would like ’Mermaid in a bottle‘ or ’Dragon Fly.’ (*Due to shipping costs these are only available to UK residents*)

Full Day Watercolour Workshops
For a £50 reward you will receive early access to our audiovisual EP of 4 new songs and animations. Plus a ‘one to one watercolour workshop‘ in Maree’s studio at Irvine Harbour. There are 5 up for grabs. The workshop will run from 10.30am to 4pm. All materials are provided and we will even throw in a cake and tea/coffee from one of her fab neighbours such as Gro Coffee or Duncans bar. (At present under guidance from Scottish government, creative workshops cannot as yet go ahead.) As soon as we get the ok to go ahead I will be in touch so that we can arrange a time that will suit both myself and the participants. All necessary precautions will be taken to ensure that safety measures are followed with regards to the Covid19 guidelines.You are very welcome to come and view my studio beforehand, when it is safe to do so.
Original Acrylic paintings
All of the animations made for Homespun will be taken from original paintings and drawings by Maree. The following 3 acrylic paintings on paper will be used as backdrops and feature in some of the animations. For £150 you can have one of these original paintings, with early access to our audiovisual EP of 4 new songs and animation.

Original Oil Painting
Seamaid oil on canvas (2020) “This painting is inspired by Scottish sea folklore and the view from my studio window.” I painted it in response to the year of Coasts & Waters. As well as early access to our audiovisual EP of 4 new songs and animations for £480 you can also have this original painting.
The painting has been professionally framed by the fab Gallery 2 in Kilmarnock.
